The Animal Defense League is a non-profit organization that is a true no-kill shelter for abandoned, abused, or neglected dogs and cats. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for these animals by providing needed medical care, including spaying and neutering.

Every year millions of unwanted cats and kittens are needlessly euthanized in shelters across the United States. Recently the ADL has received a special grant and is offering a magnificent gift to those most in need...FERAL CATS! Until the grant money runs out, they are awarding free spay/neutering and $10 rabies vaccine to feral and stray kitties. There is no catch! Free spay/neuter as long as you pay for the vaccine! They are even including antibiotics and pain medication after the procedure, so animals are not in pain or at risk of getting an infection. This is truly a remarkable event and we all need to get involved! Sterilizing feral cats will not only help fight the pet overpopulation issues in our city, but it will also enhance the health and quality of life for these cats.

Drop off for cats will be from 9-10 AM Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and from 6:30-7:30 AM on Wednesdays. Remember the cost is $10 which includes the sterilization, rabies vaccine and ear notch, which makes it easy for the animal to be identified as a sterilized stray. Appointments are required and easy to make. Just call 210-655-1481, ext 104 to schedule.

Though there is no simple solution to the pet overpopulation problem, this campaign will help fight cat homelessness by advocating spay and neuter. I encourage everyone to spread the word on this amazing cause! ANIMAL DEFENSE LEAGUE ROCKS!
